Houe Tour: Office

*Sorry about all of the technical difficulties this morning!  First all of my photos disappeared on my blog and then this scheduled post never posted!  I think I've fixed it all now!*

It wasn't that long ago that I posted the Before/Afters of our office makeover, but in case you missed it, here are the pictures again!  I probably should've re-shot these images since I've downsized the amount of books in the shelf and rearranged (talk about way too cluttered in the photo) and have changed out the seasonal paper in the clock since it's not Thanksgiving anymore.  Oh well...

GIVEAWAY: Plate Set

I'm really excited for this giveaway!  I was recently contacted by someone at csnstores.com to hold a giveaway.  You may see lots more of these pop up on other blogs as they are launching a great marketing campaign.  I had never even heard of CSN until this email but I'm glad I know about it now!  CSN has over 200+ online stores with pretty much anything in the world you could ever want.  Cookware, shoes, beds, rugs, etc. etc. etc.  I found myself stuck on their site allmodern.com for quite some time, seeing what they had to offer.

I'm currently lusting after these pillows.

And wondering what I could wallpaper with the Graham and Brown paper...

But on to the giveaway...in honor of my love for pretty plates, I'm giving away a set of 4 salad plates.  But the best part?  The winner gets to pick from 5 different designs.  The plates are 8.5" porcelain plates ($43 value)  and would be great to decorate, entertain or just eat with!  Here are you options:

1. Black Ribbon

2.  Green Season

3. Blue Flora

4. In The Mix

5. Brown Links

To enter the giveaway:

  • Leave a comment telling me which plate set you would like to win.  Include your email address if your comment doesn't link back to you.
  • For a second chance at winning, become a follower of my blog and leave me a comment telling me.
  • For a third chance, blog, Facebook or Tweet about the giveaway and leave a comment with the link.
  • US/Canada residents only

You have until Tuesday, April 27th at 11:59pm MST to enter.  The winner will be randomly chosen and announced on Wednesday, April 28th.  The winner will then have 48 hours to claim their prize or another winner will be chosen.

Don't forget to check out everything else CSN has to offer.  I highly recommend allmodern.com as a starting point!

House Tour: Dining Room

I'm still in love with our dining room table.  It's an old farmhouse table, complete with all of the original chairs.  I don't know if I'll ever be able to get rid of it!  Since last year, the dining room has gained more plates on the plate wall and pillows on the bench.

The next step is to have my friend Mary come out here and paint a big canvas for our large and very empty wall!  And someday I'll have Adam build me a little buffet table to go under the plates.

And speaking of plates, please stop by later today to enter another awesome giveaway!!

House Tour: Living Room

And here begins the house tour!  Our house was built in 1908.  I love old houses but they do not come without weird quirky things.  But I think that is precisely why I like them. So much character!

For the most part, the living room has stayed the same as a year ago when I last posted.  We did add the blue chair, the black lamp and a few things to the shelves.  On my list of things to do when come back from the summer is to add more pictures to the wall and to change the layout.  It's way too symmetrical and it's driving me nuts just looking at it!

We also had the hardest time figuring out what to do with the TV.  We have a fireplace in the room, but it doesn't even have a flue so we didn't want to use it.  We thought about hanging it above the fireplace, but then it would be too high...We thought about putting it on the wall where the bookshelf is, but then it would interrupt the flow of traffic to the kitchen.  We even thought about putting it in a corner in between our kitchen and bathroom on a corner TV stand, but that just wouldn't work either.  We finally decided to block the fireplace with the TV, and I like the placement for the most part.  I won't be showing it though because who really wants to see my TV?!

And yes, this coat rack is definitely the Leaning Tower of Pisa after removing the coats.  But just look how cool my front windows are!

*I know I just did a giveaway last week, but stay tuned because I have another fun giveaway coming up this week!*

A New Look

Finally got around to changing up the blog!  I also added a search feature on the left column and some links on the top for quick access.  I just can't seem to get away from the yellow...there is always yellow somewhere in my blog!

I was also just looking through the spring family pictures again and had to laugh when I came to this one.  Melanie and I tried to get a picture of the two of us together, and well, this is what we got...

Two smiling moms and two screaming babies!   Hope you all had a great weekend!  I'll be posting updated pictures of the house this week since it has officially been a year since I've posted a little house tour!

Burda Style

I was looking through some of my bookmarks and stumbled upon the link to Burda Style.  I had completely forgotten about this awesome site!  Tons and tons of sewing patterns for you to download.  You download them right to your computer and then print them out.  Some are free and the ones that aren't are usually around $5.  You can also look at pictures of what people have made using the patterns. With all of my new fabric I just bought, I am definitely going to try some of these out!

Giveaway: Custom Skirt

*GIVEAWAY CLOSED*

Here's the thing...I bought this adorable Amy Butler fabric to make a skirt for our family photos.  But I have way too much fabric left over!  It will just sit and sit in my growing fabric stash until I eventually find something to use it for.  So instead, I thought I would do a little skirt giveaway.  Leave a comment and you'll be entered to win a skirt, like the one I made for myself.  If you win, you'll give me your measurements (or the measurements of the person you want to give the skirt to) and I'll make the skirt custom for you and mail it out to you...near or far.  It's perfect for the spring/summer season!  Anyone is welcome to enter, whether I know you or not!

The fabric is from Amy Butler's Midwest Modern 2 collection.  It's the optic blossom in gold.

I think the colors look a bit bolder in the above picture than in real life.  Here's my skirt:

Leave a comment by Thursday, April 15th at 11:59 MST for a chance to win!  The winner will be randomly chosen and announced on Friday, April 16th.
