Rue

I'm so happy about all these fantastic online magazines at our virtual fingertips these days.  Rue just came out with their 3rd issue and it does not disappoint.

Doesn't this apartment just scream New York to you?

I'll take this whole outfit, thanks.

Love the mid-century modern pieces below.

Cute styling in this feature section!

See more from this issue and past issues here.  Have a great weekend!

Headboard Inspiration

I mentioned awhile ago that I'm hoping to upholster a headboard and change up our bedroom a bit.  Spotted these two headboards on Alice Lane and loved them.  I have been going back and forth between wanting a faux leather headboard or a velvety/soft material.  I think I'll have to head to Home Fabrics and see what jumps out at me.  Once we finish up the kitchen, I'm definitely moving on to the bedroom!

Here's a great tufted leather option.

And a great mohair fabric with nailhead trim.  I'm loving this coral color right now!

This house is really beautifully done.  To see more of the house, click here.

Kate Schintzius

I saw this house tour on Design Sponge a few weeks ago and was amazed!  This apartment belongs to Kate Schintzius, a designer for M. Design Interiors.  I just love her use of color!  So bold and bright!  I don't know that I could quite pull off this bold, but I'm using it as great inspiration.

I've really been loving this coral color lately in clothing and design.  And I can't get over it with the blue!

Ikea Styling

Melanie (whose website just launched) reminded me of a Decor8 post featuring designer Lo Bjurulf's take on Ikea products.  The styling is just beautiful and I love how it displays Ikea products in a whole new way.

Annily Green

I think I love pretty much everything in the Etsy shop Annily Green.  I can't wait to see what she has at the Bijou Market!

I finally decorated for Halloween...you know, a few days before I have to take it all down!  My house is finally clean and in order!

Studio/Office

Caroline Armelle has been working on her studio/office and it is turning out absolutely gorgeous.  The aqua floors and the butterfly wallpaper are just perfect.  I'm not normally a fan of butterfly things, but this wallpaper is lovely.  Can't wait to see the finished product!

Coralie Classics

Another designer has taken classic novels and redesigned their covers.  I blogged about the first set here.  This set, by Coralie Bickford-Smith, is so glamorous looking.  The metallics and great geometric patterns would look so nice out on display.

Rilo and I are headed home!  Can't wait to get back to our house!

Cake

I love these paintings done by Paul Ferney, husband of Jordan from Oh Happy Day.  I love the way they styled the gallery show. It looks like a great party has just happened!  I would be worried to have one of these paintings in my house because I think I'd want to eat cake every day.     You can have your cake and buy one too here (haha, so cheesy).

I'm excited to see what Adam has up his sleeve for this weekend.  I have no clue what we're doing, but I know whatever we do, it will be fun.  And maybe there will be some yummy cake involved...

Have a good one!

Future Master Bathroom

One of the things I regularly tell Adam is that our next house needs to have a real master bath...or at least the option to create a master bath.  I don't mind our bathroom at home, and I feel pretty fortunate that we have 2 full baths in our 100 year old house, but our bathroom just isn't up to "master" status.  My hope is that next in our next house we will have double sinks and a separate shower and bath.  Oh and windows.  I would love some natural light!

I saw this master bath renovation on Poppytalk.  Everything in it is from Home Depot.  Just goes to show you can make ordinary, stock items look unique and interesting.

Can't wait for the day that I can fit into my tub...

Design Star

Adam and I watched HGTV's Design Star during this whole season.  I've seen bits and pieces of other seasons, but this was the first time we watched it start to finish.  We were happy when Emily won...she was our pick from the beginning.  She is quirky and funny and has great style.  Plus her show was an interesting concept and one I know I will watch.  She has an eclectic style, which I really relate to.  I found her design blog and found these pictures of her living room.  I really like this space...The navy is perfect.

And here was one of her room's she designed for the show.  I loved this room.  I wish the picture was better quality because it really is a great space.

Party Lights

These Cable and Cotton lights are perfect.   I want them in every color!  You can order the lights in premade color sets or create your own to fit your needs.  I am hoping to have a little outdoor dinner party when we return home to celebrate us coming back and to celebrate my then belated birthday.  I think these would be lovely for the event!

And it just dawned on me, just before I hit "post" why these look so familiar.  My freshman year of college I had lights that looked like these, in earthy tones of green, cream and white.  I had completely forgotten about them!

Bloomingdale's Display

While in downtown Chicago, Adam and I stopped in a gorgeous Bloomingdale's.  The building used to be an old Shriner's Temple and it was seriously lovely, rotunda and all.  In the store, I saw this display set up and the wall hanging reminded me of the toilet paper art in Rilo's room.  And that reminded me that I want to add more to Rilo's when we get home!

Alphabet Wall

My list of ideas I love is forever growing.  I've wanted to do something with the alphabet in Rilo's room since I started thinking about a nursery.  I love this Alphabet Wall.  I don't have the wall for this in her room, but I'm saving the idea for a playroom someday.

Today, we're headed to downtown Chicago to do some fun sightseeing as a family.  Woohoo, Adam  is taking a few hours off to come along!  Can't wait to eat some delicious Chicago food!

Yellow

It should be no surprise that I love yellow.  Here are a few yellow images and products I heart right now.

Two things I love about this: the canopy and the trendy, but lovely color combo of aqua blue and yellow.

 {image}

Love this Anthro couch.  I don't know if I could spend the money on such a bold statement, but I love it anyway.

These stackable cubes from Crate and Barrel look eerily similar to our awesome $30 Craigslist coffee/end tables!

Every time I see this bathroom, I swoon.  The stripes work well with the slanted ceilings.  So cheery!

Max Wanger's Wedding

Even though my wedding has long been over, I still love to browse some of my favorite wedding blogs for inspiration.  I just stumbled on Max Wanger's wedding via Once WedMax is a fantastic photographer...you may have seen his images around the web before.  Of course, his wedding is amazing.  I just love the creative and personal details.  All of these images were taken by Our Labor of Love.

I adore this style of invitations.  And the fabric covered swing is perfect.

This setup doesn't even look real to me.  It is gorgeous.

Potted succulents as favors.

I'm definitely storing away these ideas for future parties and events!  I have a few friends who have asked me to help plan their future weddings, so I am crossing my fingers they meet someone soon!  There are 5 posts up documenting this wedding...click here to check out the rest of the photos!

Color Me Katie

Can't think of a better way to start out the week than going through old posts from Color Me Katie.  I love to look at her work.  Every time I visit her blog, I end up going through almost all of her posts all over again.  I think she is so insanely creative and every little project she does puts a smile on my face.  Plus, you can't go wrong watching any of her videos from Improv Everywhere.  Hilarious!
